Wow!! Uhhh... erm... thanks, I think! It wasn't really much my doing as it is just time and tide. Search engines like Google and Yahoo just need time to catalogue webpages and sites and, with millions of pages on the great big internet, it can take a long time to see changes take effect. It depends on if the info is entirely new, or if it's just a web address change (like this was!)

It's great to see things work out though! Welcome to the ASCS Community Forum, BTW! :)-D

[Seed Cracker Classifieds] My cockatiel needs a new home

Hello, everyone,
I am new to the site and I am asking for your help.

I have a male pied cockatiel, named Tina. There is a cute story attached to his name that I will not go into here. Regretfully, I must find a new loving home for Tina. I am moving to Tucson, but also working out of state every other week and cannot take Tina with me. I am afraid that Tina won't get enough attention in this scheme and will not do well.

Tina likes to vocalize. He has several phrases he says and likes to whistle. Originally, the tune he whistled was the theme to "Bridge Over the River Kwai", but the tune has changed a bit over time. Tina likes to spend time on my shoulder and on the back of a sofa where he can be close to us. Our dog, a Japanese Chin, likes to greet Tina with a kiss; the two of them are tolerant of one another. Tina is 5-6 years old and has always been in good health.

If you or someone you know would like to take Tina with his cage into your home I would love to talk to you.
Thanks,
margaretaputman@yahoo.com

[Seed Cracker Classifieds] African Grey Needs Help!!

Attention members! There's a lady outside of the club, Denise, that needs help in finding a good home for her African Grey. Maybe we know any possible takers? You'll have to email her for the details. Here's her message to us from our site comments:

"I need to offer my African Grey Congo for adoption due to the fact that I am unable to spend very much time at home. Cricket is 8 years old and I am very concerned about finding a good home - I will not sell him to anyone unable to demonstrate experience with birds and an understanding of their needs. Listing in the classifieds in my local paper might solicit unqualified inquiries. How can the Seed Crackers Society help me find a good home? I have two very nice cages to offer along with Cricket. I regret the need to make this decision and am determined to be very selective about a new home situation.Thank you."

Her email is denisej@armadillawax.com.

Thanks to all of you!

On Sunday, 7/8/07, I experienced the devastating loss of my beautiful year old maroon bellied conure, Oscar. As I was getting him out of his outdoor cage after a few minutes of sunlight, I grabbed for him. He didn't like it and tried to jump away, to my shoulder. Unfortunately, he hadn't had his wings clipped in a while and his jump turned to flight. The wind got hold of him and though he was desperately trying to get back to me, and I was holding my hand out for him (the only way he knew how to land) the wind was too strong and took him up and away. Next thing, he was gone. I still can't believe this nightmare is true. I have searched for him, left his indoor and outdoor cages outside for him, put up signs around the neighborhood, called rescues and vets, put up signs in pet shops around here. I am trying to exhaust all possibilities. I love him so much. He really was a family member. Always riding around the house with me on my shoulder.

Major Cross Streets: Recker and McDowell in NE Mesa
Lost: 7/8/07
Breed: Maroon Bellied Conure
Name: Oscar
Description: Small, even for his breed, mostly bright green with a little reddish patch on belly and on tail.
Reward: $250

You can see a picture of him here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jbur816/235389543/

Thank you so much!

I finally made a section in my personal blog for video clips!! here's the link, if you want to check it out:

http://esoterik72.net/esoblog/my-videos/

I think I did streamline the process to a certain extent. The thumbnail links for the bird vids were added after the band video and those went faster in putting them on the page. However, if I were to make a video clip page for the ASCS site, I'd have to ask for the vids to be either in .mpg, .mov or the newer .mp4 format. I can defintely help facilitate the process for those who need the help.

So... what do all the members think of having a video section on the site: Yea or Nay?

Tomorrow, in addition to (hopefully) doing some ASCS site updates, I have a project I've been working on in my personal blog. I'll be moving Thommen's video to a special webpage I've made for my videos. If all goes well, it's gonna look, and be, awesome.

If I can then streamline the process of adding videos and thumbnails, it'd be a welcome addition to the Society's site! Imagine... member's videos on individual pages! With technology getting to where anyone can make videos and transfer them to their computers, it may be one of the things the club will need soon.

Any thoughts on this are welcome, of course, please!
