Good morning and afternoon! On behalf of the club board, I’d like to wish all our members, and non-members visiting this site, a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving Day.

Hello to all from the moderator!
I’m terribly sorry for not being available lately, and also for the lack of updates. Last month was a very hectic month for us, hence our absence from the last meeting. So, going forward, hopefully I can catch up with the club here and post some new stuff very soon. I’ll need help from the members on this.
Thanks to Lori Steiz for checking up on me! All other members, feel free to contact me if you have any questions. (clwalls@seedcrackers.org)
Update: I have a new post in Site Updates. Check it out now!
A big hello to all members and visitors! Just wanted to give a quick update and keep things fresh around here. We have a new post, in our Site Updates section, detailing some things you should know about minor and upcoming changes to the site. Also, there’s a new article, written by our very own Cliff Steele, explaining our new ASCS Emergency Response Program. Click the Articles tab in the upper navigation bar to read up on this important club service.
As always, if there are any problems with anything in the site, please let me know. Your emails and comments can only help, and as such are a gift!
Cheers!
Well, this last meeting was a good time to be had by all. Actually, all of the meetings are great to attend, but this one was special due to the main activity. Before we get to that, though, we’ll lead off with the meeting’s guest.
After the usual social portion and the general club notes, the special guest was… surprise!… our very own Mary Dubabin with her partner-in-crime, Dakota. Her Blue-and-Gold macaw certainly seemed like a handful, but was very well behaved and we learned a lot from her presentation. Macaws are known to be the clown princes of the psittacines, and he was no exception!
Afterwards, we all took turns at the various tables around us and engaged in a sort of… well… toy-making party! The club spent some time educating each other on ways to make inexpensive, homemade toys for our feathered companions. This was a unique meeting for everyone, especially with the glue, peanut butter, seed and foodstuffs sometimes leading to messy but funny situations!
Oh and the raffle was fun, as usual! (right, Noelle? ;))
All in all, another fun night! I took pictures and they are posted in our Photos section under “2007 Toy-Making Party”. Until next time…
Hey there everyone! After a long absence, I’m back to maintaining this site for the club and its members. The new format you see before you will make the site, overall, much easier to maintain. In addition, it will enable the members themselves to make contributions to the site (within moderation, of course). The old version of the site had to be updated all through hard-coding and FTP, which sometimes took more time than necessary.
I have the Photo Gallery and Community Forum integrated with the new front-end of the site, and all that’s left to do is make the interfaces on both more unified with the front-end. I will be making a section on the site for Club Articles, since I know there are a few writers in the club (and Cliff will kill me if I don’t!!). That will take some time to implement, so I’ll work on that ASAP!
The Sidebar will need some finessing, but that will come as needed. For now, if anyone has any questions or suggestions about the new site, let me know through phone, email, telegram, carrier pigeon… whatever!
Cheers!
(Update): it’s 1:50 in the morning on the 15th, and I finally wrestled the PHP code monster into the ground… somewhat… for the Club Articles page. I need to sleep now! [yawn!]
Well, so much for regular updates!
Sorry for not doing as much with the site as some of you may have hoped for. Like I said in my last entry, It’s hard to update when you’re not getting enough feedback. That, along with the adjustment phase in my work life, prompted me to kinda take a step back and review my life priorities. I won’t make promises, but I think I’m back on the wagon.
Today, before the meeting commences, I have made some updates to the site. A new link in the Links page. The information in the Club page is updated. The front page now has our 2006 Seedcracker of the Year Award winners. The photo for them is also in the Photo Gallery, which will see new pics soon.
I plan to do something major to the site in a couple of months. It has something to do with this blog journal, but will also encompass part of the main site as well. I won’t spill the details yet. I’ll have to talk to the board members and see what they think.
Cheers!
